Shirley Jean Woodyard, 84, of Van Wert passed away at 9:48 AM on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 23, 1935 in Van Wert, she was the daughter of the late Walton "Toots" Benford and Florence Amanda (Cross) Pisel.
Shirley was a beloved teacher at Lincolnview, retiring after 32 years of service.
She was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert.
Surviving are her three children, Cathy (Diana) Woodyard of Houston, Texas, Jay (Cicely) Woodyard of Van Wert, and Mathew (Carla) Woodyard of Winnie, Texas; a granddaughter, Mandy (Matt) Ecenbarger of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Lori Young of Ft Wayne and Kathy Sprunger of Houston, Texas, both beloved as a daughter; and all the Cross relatives who she cherished.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, and from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church 160 W. Sycamore St. Van Wert, OH 45891.
The funeral will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert, on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Janine Shearer, officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
