Obituary
Samantha Kay Slone, 52, of Van Wert, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Van Wert Health Emergency Room. She was born on July 30, 1970, in Van Wert, the daughter of June (Williams) Speakman.
Samantha served her country in the United States Army for 5 years. She was a former member of the American Legion and of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. She enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
Samantha is survived by her daughter, Cheyenne Slone of Van Wert; mother, June (Robert Kemerer) Gnatkpwski of Saganaw, MI; sisters: Lora (Trent Remmel) Stienecker of Van Wert; Tina (Mohamad Mustafa) Speakman of Dayton; step siblings: Bobbi, Shane, Jami and Paul; special aunt, Sylvia (Clark) Rudy; nephews and nieces: Michael, Kristopher, Jacob, AJ, Dannielle, Tyler Jordan and Jared; as well as her "grandkids:" Archer, Thora, Harper, Sonny and Braylen.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Betty and Frank Weddle, Agnes Nacarato, step grandparents, Joan and Bob Kemmer Sr, and her stepfather, Dennis Gnatkowski.
Samantha will be buried with military honors in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Samantha`s memory may be sent to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Samantha unselfishly gave the gift of life by choosing to be a tissue and organ donor.
