Dorothy Barnett

Dorothy N. Barnett, 90, of Lima, formerly of Van Wert, passed away surrounded by her family at 10:43 AM on February 22, 2020 at her residence

She was born on September 21, 1929 in, Coldwater, MI to her late parents, Clinton and Fortress (Yoh) Wilder. A 1948 graduate of Van Wert High School, Dorothy went on to marry the love of her life, Richard Barnett, on June 11, 1949. Together they celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Dorothy worked at the front desk at Myers Cleaners for many years and was formerly a member of First Church of God in Van Wert.

Dorothy enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing and her cats. She would often watch golf, football and baseball. She and Richard often went camping and wintered in Florida for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Lima; sons: Larry (Michelle) Barnett of Van Wert; Richard L. (Susan) Barnett of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; daughter, Cheryl (Lewis) Rogers of Pittsford, MI; brother, Dan (Ethel) Wilder of Paulding; 6 grandchildren: Jason (Erin) Barnett, Jeffrey (Tonya) Barnett, Kristina (Jason) Fought, Robert (Debbie) Barnett, Julie (Dave) Shaw, Beth Rogers; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters, Donna Osmon and Karen Wilder.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home with Chaplain Dave Stanford officiating. Interment will follow in Mohr Cemetery, Van Wert, OH.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral, from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy`s memory may be sent to Putnam County HomeCare and Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
