Obituary

Charles Jay "Chuck" Painter, 70, of Rockford passed away on February 14, 2023 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on April 10, 1952, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Charles L. Painter and Janette R. (Crites) Painter.

On June 16, 1973, he married the former Barbara Lloyd. Together, they shared years of memories.

Chuck was a 1970 graduate of Parkway High School. He worked as a bridge carpenter, building bridges for Primco in Fort Wayne, Indiana for over 40 years. Chuck was a member of the Grand Lake United Methodist Church in Celina, Ohio. He also had been the zoning inspector for Dublin Township for many years. A well-known good Samaritan, Chuck was generous with his time when someone needed a hand.

Chuck loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting with his family, friends, and beloved dogs. He was an avid wildlife observer and conservationist. But most of all, Chuck loved spending time with his family and following the activities of his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, surviving are one daughter, Shannon (Adam Carpenter) Painter-Carpenter of Rockford, Ohio; one son, Brandon (Jessica) Painter of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, John (Dixie) Painter of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jeff Painter of Rockford, Ohio and Stuart (Covina) Painter of Decatur, Indiana; two sisters, Sherry (Brad) Adler of Willshire, Ohio and Lisa (Jon) Caffee of Decatur, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Gayla Painter of Willshire, Ohio and Linda Lloyd of Crossville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Elle and Bennett Painter and Wyatt, Rhen, and Sage Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Ramey; one brother, Lewis "Boose" Painter; and one brother-in-law, Barry Lloyd.

Services will be held 10:00 am Monday, February 20, 2023 at Grand Lake United Methodist Church, 119 E. Fulton Street, Celina, Ohio 45822. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, 3750 US-33 Rockford, Ohio 45882.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Grand Lake United Methodist Church, and Monday, February 20, 2023 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, prior to the funeral service.

Memorial contributions in Chuck`s memory may be sent to Grand Lake United Methodist Church, 119 E.Fulton Street, Celina, Ohio 45822.
