M. "Trudy" Thompson, 92, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 11:24 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, Ohio. She was born December 4, 1917 in Ada, Ohio, to Bert and Gwena (Stemen) McBride. On August 31, 1941 she married Ernest C. Thompson, who preceded her in death on March 13, 1995. Surviving are four sons: Robert D. (Louanna) Thompson and Steven M. (Marcia) Thompson, both of Rockford, Ohio, Paul C. Thompson (Kathryn), Gallup, New Mexico, and Philip C. Thompson, Rockford, Ohio; one daughter: Ann E. & Rev. Gary Brown, of Akron, Ohio; one brother: Nelson (Margaret) McBride, Casa Grande, Arizona; one sister: Leota (Clarence Fulton) Barker, Westfield, Indiana; ten grandchildren: Linda Temple, Cheryl Christensen, Julie Towns, Mark, Curtis, Nicholas and Denise Thompson, Christopher and Nathan Brown, and Rachel Reinders; and eleven great-grandchildren: Alec and Wesley Temple, Nicholas and Katie Christensen, Alaina Towns, Elinor and Daisy Reinders, Kurt, Evvan, Amos, and Samuel Brown. Deceased are four brothers: Robert, Andrew, Howard and Lowell McBride; three sisters: Elizabeth Pizor, Ruth and Helen McBride; one daughter-in-law: Gail Thompson; one grandchild: Justin Thompson. She was a High School French and English Teacher at Cardington, Ohio and substitute teacher at Rockford, Ohio. She was also a News Correspondent for the Lima News and Van Wert Times Bulletin, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She also was a member of the Mercer County Retired Teachers Association. Funeral Services are Thursday May 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Rockford United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Brown and Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Calling is Wednesday May 5 from 2-8 p.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the Church. Memorials may be directed to the Rockford United Methodist Church.
